Physical Demands:

This position requires travel, the ability to drive a car (with a valid license), is physically demanding requiring the ability to walk unaided up and down hills and over uneven terrain; bend, stoop, reach above head; fine and gross motor skills, and work in close quarters. The employee must have normal visual acuity at near and far distance with correction and hear spoken word with correction. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English. While performing the duties of this position, employee is required to sit and work at a computer and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, touch objects, tools or controls. The employee must be able to lift or move heavy objects (up to seventy-five pounds).

Admissions Counselor

Future Generations University is looking for an energetic self-starter to work with prospective students throughout the application process to successfully guide applicants into student status. As an admissions counselor, your job duties will include serving as the first contact for prospective students, interviewing students about their educational goals and qualifications, and guiding students through the admissions process. This role requires counselors to know the University’s programs, review paperwork and documentation, proactively contact applicants to solve issues with applications, such as missing or inaccurate information and may require a significant amount of research and extended hours during different parts of the year. Your responsibilities may take you out of the office and you also complete your work via telephone and online communication methods. You may lead campus/headquarters tours. This position may require a background check and fingerprinting before full hire.

Responsibilities for Admissions Counselor Position:

  • Maintain current knowledge of the University’s academic, spiritual, recreational, social, and financial aid programs, and communicates this information to prospective students.
  • Represent the University to prospective students. Maintain a steady flow of communication via email, traditional mail, social media, phone calls and text messages with prospective students and applicants in order to establish a relationship between the student and the University.
  • Review applications for college admission.
  • Research and verify the accuracy of application information.
  • Proactively follow-up with students to verify any application issues, including discrepancies or missing information.
  • Contact applicant references to verify information included on resumes, letters of recommendations, and applications.
  • Create profiles for each applicant and work collaborative with other team members to review and make final approvals.
  • Coordinate applicant approval process with various departments as needed.
  • Complete routine reports related to recruitment, projections, conversions, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and/or expense reports and is prepared to report on the same in meetings.
  • Maintain up to date records on inquiries and applicants via the University’s CRM.
  • Assist with and attend University events as requested.
  • Work periodic weekends, evenings, and travels locally and out-of-state as needed.

Qualifications for Admissions Counselor:

  • An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in any related field may be preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver information effectively to a diverse group of people.
  • Highly organized with a distinct propensity for timeliness and professionalism.
  • Effective research skills,
  • Willingness to travel and present information for recruitment purposes.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a willingness to travel as required.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
