Travel through spectacular scenery visiting shrinking glaciers, gold mining, slash and burn agriculture, deforestation and mechanized agriculture. This residential welcomes Future Generations University students AND students and continuing education students from other colleges and universities.

Bolivia—a biodiversity hotspot in a developing economy. Travel to the most biodiverse National Park in the world; Madidi National Park and hear from experts working to maintain this wonder of the world while negotiating significant challenges. The trip also includes being embedded at the Ecotop S.R.L. training center. Students see first-hand examples of successful agroforestry systems and engage with farmers and educators at a world-pioneer cacao central cooperative.

Course dates: July 4 – July 15, 2024

Day 1 July 4 Fly into La Paz and travel immediately to Coroico – either by bus or by electric bike.

Day 3 July 6 Travel to ECOTOP
Day 4 July 7 Learn at ECOTOP from local experts regarding: Agroforestry, Forest Management, Protected areas management, sustainable tourism, community based tourism
Day 5 July 8 Ongoing learning at ECOTOP
Day 6 July 9 Ongoing learning at ECOTOP
Day 7 July 10 Travel to Rurrenabaque
Day 8 July 11 Discover Madidi National Park
Day 9 July 12 Continued learning in Madidi National Park
Day 10 July 13 Continued learning in Madidi National Park Agricultural NGO
Day 11 July 14 Fly back to La Paz
Day 12 July 15 Fly home or other destination in Bolivia

This program accepts students enrolled in institutions other than Future Generations University. We also welcome individuals interested in continuing education to join this course.

*   Thanks to a generous donor, program costs for current Future Generations University students will be covered in shared accommodations.
** Single accommodations may not be available at all locations.

What Is Included:

  • Group transportation for group activities for the duration of the program
  • Accommodation in shared rooms. Single rooms, where available, are an additional cost.
  • A full program of academic activities and site visits
  • All group meals within Bolivia
  • Gratuities (tips) for group meals and activities

What is not included:

  • Travel between your home and La Paz, Bolivia
  • Passport and visa costs (Visa for US Passport holders – $150 | Other countries varies)
  • Single room accommodations (where available) with additional fee
  • Meals taken on your own and gratuities at those meals
  • Items of a personal nature, such as toiletries, clothing, snacks, etc.
  • Anything not specifically listed as included above or in the itinerary

Deposit:
$200 due by April 1, 2024 (non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled for whatever reasons or if your visa application is denied). Balance remainder due by June 1, 2024. Exact dates are subject to change. Future Generations University reserves the right to cancel the residential in the case of insufficient enrollment.
