Biography

Simon joins Future Generations University as an instructor for the Graduate Student Success Seminar. With over 20 years of experience bridging theory and practice across K-12 and higher education, he brings deep expertise in instructional design and educational technology. Previously at Kamehameha Schools, he specialized in designing and delivering online and blended learning experiences, culturally responsive curriculum development aligned with Hawaiian Culture-Based Education (HCBE), and universal design for learning (UDL) to ensure accessible, equitable learning for all students. He also led personalized instructional-coaching programs that supported educators in mastering course design, development, and assessment.

His background includes collaborative partnerships with Arizona State University’s Center for Education Through Exploration to develop immersive virtual STEM experiences for Native Hawaiian children. He holds an M.S.Ed. in Secondary Science Education and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the College of Saint Rose, where his research was published in the Journal of Chemical Education. Active in professional organizations including ISTE, NSTA, and the eLearning Guild, he continues to advocate for inclusive, innovative approaches to educational design and is committed to creating learning environments where everyone feels supported, motivated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
