Conservation Concentration



The Master of Arts degree in Applied Community Change with a concentration in Conservation is for practitioners working toward integrated approaches to community conservation. Conservation students are often employees of nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses, or tribal councils and possess a keen interest in linking the well being of communities to conservation goals. Graduates in this concentration will be well qualified to develop partnerships and create innovative and adaptive solutions to conservation challenges. They will be able to use their knowledge and skills to influence local as well as regional conservation agendas. The concentration includes courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, and management, with an emphasis on holistic community-based approaches to conservation. Within these courses, faculty guide students in developing scalable solutions to protect the natural world.
