Dan Terry Family Fund: Former Afghanistan Country Director Killed in Afghanistan
On August 5, 2010, friend and former Country Director of Future Generations Afghanistan, Dan Terry, was killed in Afghanistan while returning from an eye camp with nine other aid workers.

Former Afghanistan Country Director Killed in Afghanistan
Kabul, Afghanistan. On August 5, 2010, friend and former Country Director of Future Generations Afghanistan, Dan Terry, was killed in Badakshan while returning from Nuristan in northeastern Afghanistan. Dan was with a group of ten people returning from an eye camp as part of work with the International Assistance Mission. Future Generations Alumna from Uganda strengthens partnerships to protect the endangered mountain gorilla

Last year Future Generations Graduate Student from Uganda, Joy Bongyereire, received a $10,000 Davis Peace Price to reduce conflict among local farmers and Uganda’s wildlife agencies over the management and protection of endangered mountain gorillas. In six months, Joy implemented a strategy that has increased community involvement in nature conservation, leading to more protection for gorillas and more benefits for local people neighboring the parks.

Dr. Mike Rechlin named as new Dean of Future Generations Graduate School
Future Generations Graduate School welcomes Dr. Mike Rechlin as its new Dean. Dean Rechlin most recently served as the Chair of the Biology Department at Principia College. For twelve years, he directed the Forestry Division of Paul Smith’s College. He also has been an adjunct faculty member at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies for the past ten years.

Tribute to Graduate Student, Kirti Poudel
Future Generations remembers Kirti Poudel, student of the Future Generations Graduate School.
Future Generations would like to pay tribute to Kirti Poudel, a Graduate School student enrolled in this year's course, as he passed away on February 20, in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Kirti was a 42-year-old Nepali, who was enrolled in the two-year Master's Degree Program in Applied Community Change and Conservation. He was a Senior Natural Resource Conservation Officer in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, around the mountains of Annapurna and Dhaalagiri in Nepal.

West Virginia Fire Departments and Rescue Squads Eager to serve their Communities with Public Computer Centers
Across West Virginia, Fire Chiefs and Rescue Squad volunteers look forward to a Future Generations initiative to set up public computer centers and training programs in 60 communities. Computer centers with high-speed Internet will be located in fire and rescue squad facilities, which double as community centers.

Research and Evaluation Officer
Future Generations Graduate School seeks a Research and Evaluation Officer to lead in data collection and analysis for an extremely innovative educational program in West Virginia. With a $4.4 million grant from the American Recovery Act, Future Generations Graduate School will establish 60 computer labs and training centers in the existing facilities of volunteer fire and rescue squads across the state, with a concentration in the southern coalfields.

U.S. Institute for Peace funds action-research to learn from Afghanistan's successful communities
Kabul – With a recent grant from the United States Institute of Peace, Future Generations will identify and learn from communities across Afghanistan that have successfully managed their security and development needs in the midst of conflict. Using an action-research approach centered on the concept of Positive Deviance, the findings will be applied with communities, policymakers, and international actors in order to improve peacebuilding policy and practice.
